ChatGPT's new browser has potential, if you're willing to pay  OpenAI just released another big thing. Now they have their own browser and it’s making real waves all over the internet. And I really wanted to make this video to talk about whether it’s any good and worth your attention.
How does it compare to some of the competition out there because this product doesn’t exist in a vacuum, because consumers have so many choices these days. And three, how good is it actually? So let’s start this discussion by summarizing what it actually is.
It’s called Chachib Atlas, a brand new browser that’s available for all plans on Mac OS. Yes, that includes the free plan, and there are no geo-restrictions. So even people sitting in Europe like me can try it out right now.
If you’re on a Mac, just download it, install it, log in with your ChatGPT account, and off you go. That’s what it looks like. It’s basically a browser with ChatGPT as the default new tab window, with a few things to keep in mind.
And it brings some unique features compared to just using chatb in a tab like everyone else has been doing so far. First, and obviously if you're on any website, you can just click Ask Chat here, and you have it right there,
and it has the context of the entire site loaded into the chat. No need to copy and paste. You can just talk to it. And at this point, I want to start by explaining
how it compares to some of the competition. This isn't exactly a new idea. These Chrome extensions that do this have been around since chat arrived in 2022.
It's a useful thing, but honestly, copying something and moving it to a new tab isn't that big of a pain. So, call it a good thing. Secondly,
Why has something about the behaviour of the browser caught our attention?
And more interestingly, so they have this concept of browser memories. So, if I go into my settings here and I go to personalization, you'll see a new category here where it says Browser Memories Reference.
If you're familiar with Cheedy Memories, it's the same idea, but from your browsing experience. So, as it learns about your internet usage, it adds them here.
This is something that I'm not going to dare to express an opinion on yet, because only time will tell how it's implemented. And it's a very unique feature that I'm sure we haven't seen from any other product yet,
But at the end of the day, it's just another way to automatically collect context and save it to your account. Also, I should point out that when you install it, it asks you to
import all your bookmarks and your history from GoogleChrome. And that kind of brings me to the biggest question and concern here,
which is, okay, so you install it and then you decide to just import all your browser history and all your bookmarks and give them to OpenAI. We can certainly, it can be useful for some things, but just know that when you're installing it, you're importing everything
so that's what you're doing. And yes, it will open up some opportunities, but you might not want to share your entire browser history with OpenAI. And it's a sneaky way for them to get it. So, just be aware of that. What can I do now
like I did in the last chat here and ask something like find movies and shows that I've watched recently Scan my recent browsing and surface movies and shows that have been watched or searched for recently
And then use my browser history as context to correctly indicate that yes I did check out the trailers for the Bear's Pantheon The Gothic One Remake Game Trailer.
That's the first one. And then give me suggestions for what I should watch next which I've actually seen half of them.
What is the ChatGPT Atlas?
And you can already see the theme here. It's kind of pulling these different things together. And that brings me to the next big point here which is agent mode. And this is where we're going to start getting practical.
And I want to start by actually running a complex prompt for implementing agent mode. It's going to be one that involves three different applications. Before I run that, I just want to quickly intro agent mode.
This is basically their version of what would be called a computer-using agent, an AI that has access to a computer, a browser, and then it does things, clicks buttons, does things. Typically, they do the same demo like booking a trip, which people don't have real pain points.
I don't understand why they always use it as a demo, but that's what it is? It's basically the agent mode that you already did in the chat here. Now, it has all the context, the history, even the passwords that are in your browser
If you store them there, which is a more user-friendly way to use it. But basically, it's the same agent mode. It's a very interesting app. But here's a quick word from the sponsor of today's video.
Well, one thing that's been noticed with the new video generation models is that while they're amazing, most people don't actually want the new video generation model, they want a platform that can do it all instead of jumping back and forth between different tabs to bring their vision to life.
SoLTX Studio is an AI-powered studio built for filmmakers, advertisers, and creative teams. It gives you access to the latest video and image generation models,
but also everything you need to take your project from concept to final cut in one place. You can start with just a script, a concept, an image, or even a video. And LTX gives
Free Storyboard Generator - Easily Create AI Storyboards:
It even gives you the ability to guide your look with preset visual styles so your work is consistent. There’s also a feature called AI Casting, which lets you create and reuse characters across scenes with custom wardrobes,
so you don’t lose continuity. And as your project progresses and it gets close to the time to polish it, you have built-in tools like dynamic storyboards, a timeline editor, and even sound design. Again, all in one place.
They’ve also just launched a voice-over feature, powered by Google Gemini 2.5 Pro, and lets you use 30 professionally designed voices. Plus, if you’re working with ateam, it’s all collaborative.
You can share projects, manage assets, and give feedback all within a single workspace. So, if you want a platform that combines the power of an AI video model with the control and collaboration tools you need,
then check out LTX Studio. You can start exploring it today by using the link at the top of the video description. A big thank you to LTX Studio for sponsoring this video.
So let’s see if it works any better in this desktop version by trying this test prompt. I just copied a guide from our community over. This will be the context.
The content here doesn’t matter. I wanted to read it from this Googledoc. Then I want to write an email with a summary of what’s in the document
that will use my Gmail account that I’m logged into here. And then third, I want to track all the emails that are sent to this spreadsheet that's open here.
This is completely blank. And at this point, I'm just going to make sure that agent mode is enabled and that I'm logged in with all my accounts. Otherwise, these things won't work. Okay, send this.
And now let me tell you how it worked in the main competitor to this product, which is the Chrome extension of Cloud. If we pull out our other browser briefly, it's installed here.
And I've actually been using this thing since its release. And it's pretty bad. It's better than all the competition. I know the top comment on this video when I made a video on it was the Chrome extension,
"Hey, what about the comments?" Well, Comet is nice. It's the same concept here as Atlas, right? But it just doesn't work as reliably. And that's a big word in this discussion here.
Reliability. Is this thing reliable? Because of course the idea of an agent that just controls your browser and does things for you. But if you run a task 10 times and three of those times it does something completely random,
then you're not going to stop using it because it's actually going to do more work than it removes. And that brings me to the last part of this video, which is the different examples that I've tested here and how they compare in terms of features to some of the competing products.
And I told you what it does and what competing products there are that already do it. Sure, it combines all of that into one package, which is kind of nice. But then at the end of the day, if I want to do something like what we just started, it's a real question
whether I should use this cloud browser extension, which has the same agent capabilities, or something like Google's computer usage model that they just released two weeks ago that beats all the standards.
And I'll tell you about these agent tasks, I find the cloud to be more straightforward. And I don't think it's because there's some genius architecture behind the extension or that ChatBT Atlas isn't good enough.
I think it's because of the model. Quick reminder that OpenAI didn't ship the new model here. They shipped a new interface that includes the existing model and uses it. And I'm very curious to see how that works.
